For Probate Matters we charge for work done at an hourly rate depending upon the experience of the Fee Earner dealing with your case. We do not charge a percentage of the estate so the value of the estate does not affect our prices. The amount of work needed is not necessarily directly related to the value of the estate and so we feel this is the fairest way to charge you.

Again we are happy to work with a different firm if you prefer. This is only if there is a serious dispute such as contesting the will.

However, there are key factors involved in most probates that we can use to give some indication of time. For a simple estate the average time is 3 – 6 months and our average fee, excluding VAT, is in the region of £2,000.
